John Tree is an internationally awarded product and furniture designer who divides his time between managing Jasper Morrison’s head office and his own projects.

Graduating Kingston University in 1989, John initially worked at London based consultancy FM, designing for brands such as Samsonite, Yale and Unilever before joining the Sony design team.

Working at design centres in Tokyo, London and San Francisco he developed products across a wide range of Sony categories including mobile, television and walkman for both local and global markets. In the process collecting a gold G mark and IF Design award.

Returning from San Francisco in 2001 John joined Jasper Morrison’s office in London which he now manages and leads projects with a broad range of international clients across product, furniture, tableware and lighting markets.

These include Punkt, Cappellini, Maruni, Vitra, Samsung, Olivetti, Magis, Alessi, Muji, B&B Italia, Emeco, and recently new Tate Modern Switch House which Jasper’s office furnished.

John also guest tutors at the Royal College of Art in London, ECAL in Lausanne and pursues his own projects with smaller brands such as Deadgood, Deacode and VG&P.


1999 – Sony Audio System

An audio-visual system designed with Jasper Morrison for the high-end European market which proposed a flexibility of orientation and the use of the system’s multiple components.

2004 – Jasper Morrison Rowenta Coffee Machine

Part of the Jasper Morrison’s Rowenta “Brunch Set” consisting of kettle, toaster and this coffee machine, bringing a precise and minimal language to these everyday activities.

2015 – Jasper Morrison Punkt Mobile

A simple mobile phone designed for the Swiss electronics company Punkt. As a reaction against the oversaturation of technology in society, this handset focuses simply on voice and text communications.

2015 – Neal Feay Trifold Table

A study in precision sheet metal forming and folding. Each stool is formed from three pieces of aluminium sheet that are each folded three times.

2016 – ROLI Seaboard Rise

A consumer version of this London startup’s groundbreaking musical instrument that uses silicon as an expressive musical surface.

2017 – ROLI Blocks

A modular electronic musical instrument system and software platform that takes the ROLI technology from studio to pocket.

2017 – VG&P HD Chair

The hot desk chair is for shared workspaces and naturally adapts to different users without adjustment and with a simplicity that is absent from most office furniture.
